Common cancers โ what to watch for
Early detection is the most powerful tool we have. Know the warning signs before symptoms become emergencies.
Screening from age 40
Mammograms annually. Watch for lumps, skin changes, nipple discharge, or pain. Early-stage breast cancer has a 99% survival rate.
Pap smears from age 21
Pap tests every 3 years, or every 5 with HPV co-test. Often symptom-free in early stages โ screening is critical.
Colonoscopy from age 45
Colonoscopy every 10 years, or annual stool tests. Blood in stool, persistent changes in bowel habits, or unexplained weight loss.
Low-dose CT for high-risk
Annual LDCT for adults 50โ80 with 20 pack-year smoking history. Persistent cough, chest pain, or shortness of breath.

Research that could change everything
Clinical trials test new cancer treatments โ drugs, immunotherapies, surgical techniques, and combinations โ to find safer, more effective options. Many trials offer access to promising treatments years before FDA approval.
Participation is always voluntary. Trials are carefully monitored for safety and you can leave at any time. Many trials cover treatment costs and may even provide stipends for travel.
