Know the signs

Common cancers โ€” what to watch for

Early detection is the most powerful tool we have. Know the warning signs before symptoms become emergencies.

Breast Cancer

Screening from age 40

Mammograms annually. Watch for lumps, skin changes, nipple discharge, or pain. Early-stage breast cancer has a 99% survival rate.

Cervical Cancer

Pap smears from age 21

Pap tests every 3 years, or every 5 with HPV co-test. Often symptom-free in early stages โ€” screening is critical.

Colon Cancer

Colonoscopy from age 45

Colonoscopy every 10 years, or annual stool tests. Blood in stool, persistent changes in bowel habits, or unexplained weight loss.

Lung Cancer

Low-dose CT for high-risk

Annual LDCT for adults 50โ€“80 with 20 pack-year smoking history. Persistent cough, chest pain, or shortness of breath.

Clinical Trials

Access to tomorrow's treatments today.

Clinical trials give Washington cancer patients access to cutting-edge therapies before they're widely available. Our navigators help you understand your options and connect with the right research teams.

What is a clinical trial?

Research that could change everything

Clinical trials test new cancer treatments โ€” drugs, immunotherapies, surgical techniques, and combinations โ€” to find safer, more effective options. Many trials offer access to promising treatments years before FDA approval.

Participation is always voluntary. Trials are carefully monitored for safety and you can leave at any time. Many trials cover treatment costs and may even provide stipends for travel.

About Us

Born from personal experience.

WA Cancer Connect was founded by a naturopathic doctor who watched both parents navigate cancer โ€” and witnessed firsthand the exhausting, fragmented search for support.

Our mission

Simplifying the journey. Strengthening the community.

To eliminate the burden of searching for cancer support by creating a comprehensive, centralized platform that connects Washington State cancer patients and their caregivers with verified nonprofit organizations, essential resources, and compassionate business partners offering discounted or free services โ€” so families can focus on healing instead of searching.

WA Cancer Connect is a program of Golden Heart Cancer Support, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2022.

Our vision

"No family should spend their hardest days searching for help that already exists. We exist to close that gap โ€” one connection at a time."
